Hi everybody..Todays news.
lee continues to be stable, but he is one very sick man. We thought we might have run into another stumbling block. I was informed as soon as I got to the hosp. that a cardiologist had been brought in. Apparently Lee's heart enzymes were now up also, so they wanted to run test to see if he had had a heart attack. They did an ultra sound of the heart, an EKG, and a echiogardiagram(?) As of 8:30 p.m. the nurse said that she had still not heard any results of those test. However she believes that if it had been anything serious, she would have been told. So as she said, sometimes no news is good new. I am just going to take it as good news. I did hear small bits of conversation between a intern and the nurse running the ultra sound. What little bit I picked up, they were saying that there might be one small place where there was an "iclusion".... sorry I can never remember the word, but he said.... if that was one it was very small. Which I'm taking to mean that if he did have a heart attack, there sure wasn't much damage done. So, I am thinking postivly. I'm sure when I get there tomorrow morning I will hear nothing but good reports about the test. They also did an EEG to see if there were any possible damage from the seizure. i'm sure I'll hear the results of that tomorrow too.
They are still concerned about the kidney. It is working but it sure isn't producing much. They consider him to be in accute renal failure. Drs do say though, that what they are hoping is that once the antibiotic has kicked in...after 48 hrs., and the antibio. starts working against the infection, the kidneys should go back to running normally. Lee's prob. there is that he only has 1 good kidney. One wasn't working quite right anway, so they sacrificed that one to do his radiation.
His vital signs continue to be steady and good. They do not know when they will attempt to take out the resperator. They said it prob. wouldn't be tomorrow. I spoke with lee's dr. today... remember this is a teaching hosp., so you are always seen by several drs. But this is lee's personal onocologist. He says that hopefully by tomorrow, when lee will then have been on the antiobiotic 48 hrs, we should start to see small signs of improvement. So I know that tomorrow is going to be a very anxious day for me, hoping with all my heart to start seeing signs of improvement.
This is a very scary situation. I don't know if any of you know any of the details, but these tick bites have resulted in people dying. This is very serious. It is a life threatening disease. It is called Ehrlichiosis ( ur-ic-le-o-sis). This can be deadly. If you have ticks in the area you live, I suggest that you find some information on the net. I will warn you, this can be some very scary stuff. I have kinda skimmed through it, but I doubt that I'm going to read it completely. I don't know that I really need to know that much, or want to know. But I do know it can be bad, and it can be fatal. Lee's Dr. seemed hopeful. He is sure that in 48-96hrs., we will start seeing improvement is him. Please pray that this is the situation. I have been so scared, but I just keep talking positively, and trusting God that soon he is going to be well, and coming home. But something tells me that we could be looking at at least another week in the hosp. Hopefully all of that will not be in ICU.
Well, this is long, I appologize. Just continue to pray for, strength for lee to fight this, wisdom and knowledge for his dr. and nurses, that this medicine will do what it's suppose to. Then all I can do is put him in Gods hands, to take care of him for me. Lee and I both know that there's no better place to be. Please continue to pray.
I will keep you up to date.
Love,
Lev
